Florida, here we come!

Well, it's confirmed. My family and I are moving to the South Florida area in 4 weeks. I'll be working in Boca Raton. We know that we're renting for sure, at least for the 1st year.

Please recommend an apartment with a 2/2. There are many available but we just don't know which to choose. I would like an apartment with a drive that is less than 20minutes from center of Boca. How about Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, and may be Delray. We're looking to pay up to $1100-$1200 per month and among other things such as safety, convience...etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated by me and my family.

John

I live in boca and would suggest staying in boca or delray. Coral springs and lauderdale are just too far and crowded.Check the classifides on palmbeachpost.com for rentals. good luck.

I agree. If you work in Boca Raton, why live anywhere else except perhaps in nearby Delray Beach?

For $1100-$1200, you should be able to find a decent, but not the best, 2/2 in either town.

Your best bet is to drive around neighborhoods and look for the myriad "for rent" signs. You can't miss them.

Good luck!

I would avoid Coral Springs. It is way too crowded and it will take you a long time to get to Boca. When I worked in Boca, I lived in Boynton Beach (east). Which is about 10 miles from Boca. The apartment was right on the Intracoastal and close to I-95 so my drive to Boca was about 25 minutes. We had a 2/2 and paid $1160. The place is called Manatee Bay and you can find out more about it at apartmentguide.com. $1100-$1200 won't get you much in the heart of Boca.
Good Luck.

yes, yes...avoid inland cities (Coral Springs, Sunrise, Weston, etc) if you'll be working in Boca. You may not get the greatest 2/2 rental in your price range, but at least you'll be home more hours per day with the family

Don't forget to check with a real-estate agent. I lived in Ft Lauderdale on the beach in a condo for 1100 and my agent found it. They have a handle on what is going and usually know the neighborhood you are looking for. They don't make alot of commission but it is also their bread and butter. If you are looking for nice areas, most likely the beach area would be good, but expensive. Give the real estate people a try. Also check out www.realtor.com (broken link). This is not just a website for realtors and it lists alot of rentals that are not in apartment complexes. It will give you a good idea of prices and areas too. Good luck!! And be prepared for heavy traffic - no matter where you go!!
