worst economy? I don't know about that. If a person is moving down here with out a job in hand then yeah I agree, they are foolish. But if they have a GOOD job in hand (55,000 or more) then hey why not? I mean if they like what the place has to offer I say, come on down.

I'm just curious to know why your concern about others peoples' decision to move here would entice you to start this thread? Why does it bother you so much?

By the way, where did you hear that South Florida has the worst economy? Our company has been getting more unsolicited phone calls and resume submissions from states in the northeast than in Florida. For some reason, we've been getting a lot of resume submissions from Pennsylvania... many of them sounding very, very desperate for work. Go figure.

Why would anybody in their right mind speak for the personal situation of ALL people moving to an area based on YOUR OWN OPINION? God help us if we are supposed to listen to you and nobody else! How many stores are closing shop (aside from that crappy Saks that needed to close 20 years ago)? Are incomes actually slipping like they are in some places? What's our jobless and unemployment rate? Get your facts together before you make blanket statements. Best? Hells to the freaking naw. Worst? Not even close, not even one of the worst. All you have to do is see the other side of the peninsula to see how much worse it could be (Ft. Myers/Naples).

That's the case almost everywhere, not just in South Florida. It's called stagflation.

I'm still tempted to buy a little mountain hideaway somewhere in TN, and I am not joking one bit. I wonder how the soil is? I have been researching a lot about cost of living trends and can't find a major city where there isn't some form of stagflation. A lot of the cities where the sheeple are moving for example (Charlotte, Atlanta, etc) seem to actually have slipping wages and soaring unemployment and jobless rates, at least that's what the data claims. It seems like the midwest is the most stable.

Smile Economy in South Florida

Things have slowed down all over the country. You need to think outside of the box a little bit. Find something you're good at and work for yourself. A lot of people here are self employed or do contract work for an old employer.

There are lots of opportunities in Florida, believe it or not.
