I'm planning a trip to Ft Lauderdale to see a show at Hard Rock in a few weeks. Show starts Friday at 7:30. We'll want to stay overnight afterward, somewhere in the area. Hard Rock is sold out. I was thinking of checking into a hotel near Las Olas, but worried about traffic out to Hard Rock at rush hour. Any advice?
Thank you!

You’ll be going against traffic staying west of the Hard Rock, but it’s suburbia and not as beachy or exciting as Las Olas. But traffic will be much much better during rush hour.

If you don’t mind staying in suburbia, I recommend the LaQuinta on SW 6th in Plantation (not the one on Peters Road) and the Hyatt Place, also in Plantation. A bit further west is the Courtyard by Marriott, which is in Weston.

Hope this helps.

PS: if you really want to stay beach side, and want a great experience, Marriott Harbor Beach is fantastic. Just south of Las Olas on the beach.

Google "Dania Pointe hotels". There's an AC Hotel and a Marriott there, about 5 miles east of Hard Rock. If you want more of a chain hotel experience, look a bit further east at Stirling Road and I-95.

I was going to suggest Dania point too. Very close to the Hard Rock, many new hotels, and shops & restaurants around Dania point before you go to the show.

I would suggest if wanting something with a little more Ft Lauderdale/tropical flavor versus a strip mall kind of option to choose around the marina or beach off of the 17th Street Causeway. Check out the Hilton Ft Lauderdale-Marina, Renaissance Fort Lauderdale-Marina or the Doubletree Fort Lauderdale-Bahia Mar. At very worst it's a 40-minute drive (10 miles), usually closer to 20 minutes. 6:30-7pm is the very tail end of "rush hour" and not something to worry about if giving yourself enough time.

Last time I went to a concert at Hard Rock I stayed at the Ritz Carlton on the beach cheaper than a room at the Hard Rock

There is very good Lyft and Uber connections in the area. Any hotel within 10 miles of the Hard Rock is an option.
