I would like to ask if Tamarac is an ok place to live. Im noticing prices are very reasonable to buy a condo. I’ve seen a few for under 200,000. Im thinking it’s because the neighborhood isn’t good or it’s a 55plus, which doesn’t say on the listings.

Any opinions about that area or condo complexes? Thanks for any info you can provide. I’d like to be somewhat informed before contacting a realtor.

Many thanks.

I have a client who sold her home in Coral Springs and bought in Lime Bay. She's been there 2 years and loves it. Nice neighborhood, quiet, close to the Walmart and her sister, who lives in The Woodlands in Tamarac.

No washer/dryers in the units though. You have to purchase tokens from the condo association but she doesn’t find it to be a problem.

Do you still live in Century Village in Deerfield? I thought you like it there. Lime Bay is nice but it may not have as many as the amenities (shuttle, entertainment) that Century Village does.

Thanks for your reply. Im not moving. I’m asking for a family member who wants to move here.

OK. Another beautiful condo complex is Kings Point. I suspect it’s probably pricier than Lime Bay. But beautiful area and nice amenities closer in type to Century Village (although nothing equal). Another client of mine nearly moved there but decided to just go directly to assisted living.

Thank you wizrap. . But I’m not looking for a 55 plus. It’s for my nephew who’s 41. I need all aged community. Just wanting to check out possibilities for him, so when he comes down we’ll have an idea. It just seemed the condos are cheaper in Tamarac than in other places, and I was wondering why.

I think Tamarac is cheaper because its demographics skew older. About 25% of the population is aged 65 or older, and since many are retirees, that’s a target for many of the condos. The Woodlands is a community of single family homes, but there’s not that many in Tamarac.

So with so many condos, come the retirees. The median age in Tamarac is close to 50 so for someone who is 41, they may feel slightly out of place and wonder why they didn’t choose something in Coral Springs which is just the next town north and has a younger demographic.

I really think if he can wait to buy, he should rent for a year, and check out the area.

Just as a comparison, I looked up Coral Springs real quick and barely 11% of the population is aged 65 or older.

OP you might check out nearby Coconut Creek which compares favorably and while more adult, not overtly retiree nor families (just 22%) and an average age of 41.
