I bought a home in North Lauderdale and am moving down from Central Florida. I have just confirmed Centurylink doesnt have service in my area which is a bummer. They told me to try Xfinity or AT&T, I did a few searches, but cannot find any other providers which seems really odd.

Am I missing something here or have I just gone through the wrong search engines for services?

I'm not adverse to either AT&T or Xfinity, but those $25 a month for 1 year deals have me concerned that go up to $200 monthly or charge me a $400 " Termination" fee on a "No Contract" Plan for the remaining term of service... Im sure sone of you know exactly which company I had up here before Centurylink.

Truth is that xfinity and AT&T, along with Atlantic Broadband, basically have a monopoly on many areas of South Florida. There are some areas (such as the beach area) where you have only one of them with no other choice. Where I live outside Aventura, AT&T only started really a few years ago, while xfinity (which I've had for years) was the only one available for a number of years.

I live in the area and use Xfinity. $40 a month for 100 mbps. With a decent gigabit router, it is enough for my use including video streaming. I have had good luck asking Xfinity to give me the new customer promo of $40 every year (otherwise I think it is like $50 regular rate). Don't rent equipment from them nor subscribe to their tv or phone packages. It's way harder to negotiate for a good deal then.
