Looking for a great orthopedic surgeon. Anyone have experience w/orthopedic surgeons in Fort Lauderdale area? I need hip and knee surgery, been to several doctors, not really pleased with approach. They just tell me I need surgery, show me xrays sometimes, but don't go into any detail beyond that, like how they do the surgery. To be honest, I haven't asked them about that, but now I'm getting a bit wiser? So if anybody has any experience with orthopedic surgeons here I'd appreciate it. There is one doctor here that has a hefty extra charge for his personal attention beyond Medicare, thousands of dollars for operation beyond Medicare, and seems to have innovative surgical approach, but I wonder why he charges so much extra for "personal attention" although he gets pretty good reviews. He works from a major hospital in Fort Lauderdale. I'm interested, however it makes me wonder. I guess Medicare doesn't give a doctor a lot of time to be with patient? Anyway -- experiences appreciated.

I had dinner with a friend the week of Thanksgiving when we were down in SFLA and he said his mother thinks the world of Dr. Danny Kanell. She’s in her 90’s and still gets around great, no walker, walks up stairs no problem and she credits it all to him.

That sounds great. Happy for her and thanks for response. I just looked again at the website of Dr. Leone, and although he sounds great, I wonder why he charges lots beyond Medicare. I guess I'll have to ask questions before I make my appointment about the charges. I'll look at the one you spoke about. thanks.
