There are homes for many different budgets in Fort Lauderdale. However, those with canal front, near the beach, or in top neighborhoods command very large $$$$. Someone could live on $60k but that salary would buy much more house/land in other parts of the state.

Makes sense thanks you for your response. I guess it depends on where you are living like you say.

Yeah, agreed. A 60k salary would be decent in Jacksonville or Orlando. Two years ago I’d say Tampa Bay, but not today.

I am new here and make low 80s. I feel like it is not that good here and would be more comfortable with 100

Sorry for my delayed response. I also lived in Salt Lake City, and my husband and I just wanted to try a new place that wasn’t cold. I really like living here, Between the weather, food, cheaper and easier to get to europe, all the nature preserves, and having the cultural amenities of Miami and Fort Lauderdale it’s great. Salt Lake just lacks some of those amenities (access to europe, cultural amenities, weather) I want. Is south Florida perfect? No, but I feel lucky to have found a house/job here and I’m enjoying it.
