Hello,

Finally making the move from NYC to Weston. I'm familiar with the area as my parents live in Southwest Ranches. My family and I are excited

Looking for home owners insurance quotes and here is what I have gotten from high to low:

State Farm w/out Auto Bundled

Citizens

Government Insurance Corp

State Farm w/Auto Bundled

Florida Peninsula

Currently Considering:

State Farm:
I like State Farm w/Auto bundled but getting the cars moved down and then license/registration/title is something I didn't want to coordinate just yet. Yes I know I have a certain time to get a license and register a vehicle but we are moving the cars one at a time (second car 2 weeks after we move).

Florida Peninsula:
They have a great rate but I've never heard of them which is understandable since I've never shopped for home insurance before, let alone in south Florida. I was told they are rated 'A' by Demotech which I know is not the same as an AM Best rating but it's something?

Any experience here with Florida Peninsula Insurance?

Thanks in advance.

On a side note I’ve talked to 2 brokers and both of them had come back with quotes from Citizen’s and Florida Peninsula.

State Farm and Government Insurance Corp I had reached out to directly.

When we lived in Weston we had Universal. I thought I read somewhere that they stopped writing in Florida though.

Speaking of that, my SIL in Coral Springs used to have State Farm, for decades, and then State Farm not only stopped writing, they also dropped current policy holders.

Interesting how they have returned to the Florida market.

Check out Edison. By FAR the best rates for us, near Weston. Ask your agent to check if you qualify.

Farmers Bureau is awesome for any home that has full storm protection - impact windows, front door and garage door. Probably half of what Universal or Citizens charges.

That was my experience with Edison. House had to be built under the new Miami Dade codes. I'll have my agent check Farmers Bureau next year as well to compare.
