My daughter is interested in guitar lessons again. We were at Jammin' Kids in Weston and she was doing well but didn't like something about the method of instruction. She lost her interest and chose not to continue. She played acoustic guitar in Chicago for a year and LOVED it-however she learned to play "on tab." She said "it made more sense to her" that way. Her teacher was an older gentleman- A musical genius that was great with kids, however his style was dated and is hard to come by. He did his own musical sheets (on tabs) by hand for the kids he taught. She learned come kids songs, some Beethoven, Holiday songs, TV theme songs etc.. She liked the variety-she really loathed the music she was taught at Jammin' kids. Anyways-- I need your help findind a teacher that will give lessons that way. I live in Weston but am willing to travel a bit.

Default "Old school" music lessons

Hi, There's nothing wrong with exploring notation methods and asking questions about the books teachers use to teach music before beginning any lessons. If they don't use the music you or your daughter like to hear, talk about it when you meet the teacher. Make sure to mention that you'd like to learn using tablature aka "tab" or standard notation. Some teachers may like teaching using standard notation while others use tab. Either way, experienced teachers should be able to oblige. You can check out for more questions, too.
