most of my heritage in maine has come from large families, that had to work hard, take what the land offers, by farming and hunting.
the deer-heads, moose-heads, arent even real, taxi-dermists, create them...(they are not dead carcasses)..

I am not high brow by any means. In fact I consider myself lucky to have the luxury to choose vegetarianism. I have a sister-in-law who grew up in Malaysia where they didn't have that luxury. Whatever animal they did eat, they ate every part of it so as not to waste any of it. I have no problem with that. I do, however, have a problem with people shooting an innocent animal for sport and hanging the carcass as a trophy.
As I understand it, a person shoots the deer, hands it over to the taxi-dermist and then gets back the wall hanging. Those who have done it brag that it is very real.
