Default Burgers, Egg Creams, et al

I love burgers with thousand Island dressing on them! REALLY good! (No mustard, no plain ketchup for me!) Chocolate egg creams were a favorite of mine when I lived hundreds of years ago in Greenwich Village. Seeing the words "egg cream" in this thread brought back a wonderful taste in my head!!! (Is there such a thing as a memory taste?)

In the Boston area a milkshake used to be called a "frappe"... Is the phrase still in existence? By the way... Frappe rhymed cra-!

Italian bread sandwiches are called subs as a default name throughout the USA. But here is a list of variants:

Grinders: New England states and Eastern Upstate New York
Hoagies: Philly region/South Jersey
Torpedoes: Los Angeles
Wedges: Westchester County, New York (NOT New England as another poster previously mentioned. I grew up in Maine; they're called grinders there.)
Heroes: NYC and vicinity
Guinea Rolls: Rural West Virginia (where I live presently.)
Broadways: Pacific North West

Buon Apettito a tutt'

There must be such a thing, because any time I think of an egg cream I can almost taste that fizzy sweetness!

I think the word "frappe" has been hijacked by Starbucks.
