No doubt. The 40% less fat Cape Cod chips, IMO, are objectively better than the standard versions. More balanced salt/crunch/oil profile. I'd buy them even if they were 40% more fat.
Agreed, I am on board with their low fat chips' taste, and looking at the ingredients, I don't see any kind of Trojan Horse here, the ingredients look essentially the same.
All I know is, every time they use subsitutes to make something "low fat" or "sugar free", we seem to end up with a more toxic substance that makes us sicker to consume than the prior ingredients.
Why bother? If you're trying to control your weight, just buy the chips you love and eat less of them. Try putting them in a bowl instead of 3ating them out of the bag - works wonders.
That was my solution too. I would rather eat less of something that tastes good rather than substituting some bland "low fat" version. It's all about portion control.
As example is Philadelphia cream cheese. Sure the low-fat version has half the fat and about 40% fewer calories, but the texture is just weird, sort of gummy and the flavor is off. So I get the regular and eat less of it.
