Greetings,

Any info on Fish Hawk ranches, Lithia or Bloomingdale area? How about the schools? Why is is that Florida has such a bad reputation for their school system? Looking to move in a year or so and getting the feeling that housing will not be affordale by then. Seems its getting as expensive as NY.
Thanks dabeach

Well, Florida is as expensive as NY. ...NYC probably has it beat, but that's it. This place is ridiculous for housing prices. ...You hear that about the schools, because Florida does have the worst school system. I don't know if it's the worst in the country, but it's crappy. They pay the teachers terrible rates, and then who are ya going to get to teach, right? That's a big part of it. No pay, no good teachers. My brother teaches n NY, and would love to come down here, but no go. The pay is terrible. so we have crappy schools. ...And also, everyone here it seems, is from NY, so you'll feel very good when you get here! I think they're all moving here because, well, on LI, the housing prices are terrible too. ....It's a great place, like with the weather and beauty....just come on down!

The truth about Florida is that the tourist areas are great - but everyday life for residents is subpar. Infrastructure just isn't the focus here and the feeling of community with good services is missing. If that's okay with you, come on down. The weather for most of the year is fabulous. And there's always something to do. It's quite addicting.
