Research on youtube, I saw a video on Myrtle Beach and the tour guide/realtor was saying certain parts of Myrtle Beach are high crime areas. When I lived in the Orlando Metro area, Ocala was called the dust bowl of Florida, Ocala is near The Villages, the biggest over 55 community in the U.S., I saw that video also.

Myrtle Beach area is coastal, Ocala/The Villages looks like South-Central Georgia and is pretty boring. Check out the communities of Conway and Carolina Forest in the Myrtle Beach area.

Ocala has improved, but I’d still go with Myrtle Beach.

What are you looking for?

I will say that living in a tourist zone gets old after a while, so as you explore Myrtle Beach, focus on what’s there outside the peak tourist area.

Ocala is less touristy but skews older pretty hard.

Depends on what you're looking for. I live in Ocala and it's just whatever, in my opinion. It's an hour to either coast, roughly an hour to Orlando, Tampa (90 mins), or Daytona, which is cool if you like Florida cities. Ocala is cool if you have disposable money as there's a lot of nice restaurants around here, but if you're not financially secure it's gonna be a bad time. Also, not a lot to do if you're younger or have kids.

I've never been to Myrtle Beach so I can't help ya there.
