Well this is for the second floor. I'm not putting down 1500 square feet of stone on a second floor.

Hardwood floors would be perfectly fine

Nope. Hate carpet, don't care how pricy it is.

As I said, every house we have owned up until this point has had hardwood floors on the second storey. And no, it's not that noisy. But that's not even a consideration. It's just the two of us, no kids or pets. There won't be noise issues.

So, engineered hardwood seems to be the way to go.

Thanks to all who participated.

If you read my comment above, I suggested engineered hardwood on the second floor, not concrete/stone. It’s held up nicely with kids and 2 big, rambunctious dogs. Bathrooms, obviously, are all tile.

As for noise, we don’t notice it. We mostly walk without shoes on upstairs, and also have a hallway runner.

to each...lol

My husband works from home and has a large office. He also does voice over work and has built a soundproof recording studio, both are on the second floor.

Not that I have to justify my house to you. We are quite happy with our home.

For a second floor engineered hardwood is fine. Since ceramic tile and LVP are out this is the logical choice. We have ceramic tile on our single story and are not worried about floods or humidity.
