Just moved here (Orlando) from San Antonio, TX. Super disappointed in Publix quality. No online grocery shipping? No curbside grocery pickup? The bakery is a joke. Everything is artificial. The stores are so fluorescent and not modern. Produce quality sucks. Prepared foods are fried, greasy and small. Everything super expensive. Is this considered the best grocery store in Florida? Please please recommend something better.

Really missing Central Market in Texas.

I noticed a lack of competing supermarkets on a recent trip to Florida as well. Everywhere I have ever lived has at least a few competing chains. It helps keep prices down. Aldi has a few stores in the Orlando area. I shop at Aldi a lot where I live. Prices are very good and food quality is good. Aldi's are not large supermakerst. You won't find the variety you would find in a traditional supermarket. There is no bakery, prepared foods, etc and the produce is hit and miss, but for some items, it's a bargain. Aldi is owned by the same company as Trader Joes. I have never been disappointed with items I've purchased there.

Go back to Texas where you are appreciated. If you're too lazy to get your groceries then eat out.

I'm no Florida fan but you're on the dark side ...........

Dark side? what dark side? the dark side of technology?

Let me guess. You lost your job when Kmart closed?

I hope you are not working at Winn Dixie, because they are next. And so is Sears, and many others.

Don't expect everyone to immediately change to the online market place. For food I prefer actually deciding what I want and reading the labels and feeling the veggies, etc. I am not so lazy I can't go shopping.

Everyone is not going to immediately switch to online grocery shopping.

But MANY people will. Just like MANY people now buy shoes and dresses and TVs online (Remember when everyone said "I will never buy shoes or dresses or TVs online"?????)

And MANY physical stores will close.

And when the physical stores start closing by the hundreds and suddenly you have fewer options for fabric softener or soap or chicken stock or Q-tips, you and everyone else will be ordering from Walmart.com or Amazon, etc.

Maybe you should join OP and go to Texas also ... LOL

I know a lot of people are goofy as three legged owls but not wanting to buy your own food is definitely beyond the dark side.

Actually I am a wealthy retiree but even with that said I still go to the store and buy my own food, pick my steaks and lobsters and definitely carefully select my veggies ..... maybe you live out of cans so it makes no difference ... lol.

And I definitely want to personally select my wine and read the labels carefully. I guess if you do the box wine gig or think Ripple is the wine of choice it doesn't matter ... lol. Technology as you call it is simply another shinny can with a pretty label on the next shelf.

Drive in grocery just like McDonald's ... brilliant!

Have a great day
