I remember as a kid seeing snowflakes in Miami! And not the kind Miami was famous for in the 70's-80's either!

According to USA Today, they reported snow in Homestead Fl in 1977

In fact, on Jan. 19, 1977, snow fell in Homestead, Fla., only about 25 miles north of the bridge from the Florida mainland to the Keys.

This was during one of the worst of the mid-1970s U.S. cold waves and snow fell that day in several parts of Dade County, Fla., but not at the NWS office at the Miami Airport, which is wIhy the official records do not show the snow.

Well, now if it is going to snow all winter long in Florida, that is good too!!
Maybe all the snow -birds will stay up north and leave us alone!!
I should celebrate, and hope for lots of snow, right on Palm beach county!!

Wish for snow all winter and a cat 3+ hurricane each summer. If that happens there will be no such thing as a "snow bird" but they will be satisfied to just stay put!

That isn't something to wish for, believe me. It is something that can destroy the beauty of Florida in a blink of an eye. No trees left, homes destroyed, people left homeless.

I had evacuated for Andrew and was staying with my parents in Cutler Ridge. The window blew in, and we had to run to the shed my dad and I had built from 3AM to the morning. Hurricanes are scary, yes but the trees all grew back and we rebuilt, and no one was killed. We cause our own damages by building flimsy garbage to live in. The shed we built for around 200.00 did better than the big architect designed custom home across the street. More people die from fire than hurricanes, yet they still live in homes made of fuel. We can't stop hurricanes, so get ready or move to a safer place. Give me a hurricane over an earthquake anyday. But you won't catch me in any building with a wood roof in a cat 3+.
