You want to quit your job and get unemployment? That's not how it works. Contact your union or your HR office.

You said you were going to resign.

You don't get unemployment for a routine resignation.

If you go HOME and return to WORK before your LEAVE runs out, you have a better chance at CLAIMING you have a medical condition and going on disability (either short term or long term) if you have that benefit at your job. OR Social Security Disability. But these things don't just happen by filling out an application - they are often denied.

Otherwise you have to gain back your FMLA hours to get MORE medical leave - by working at your current company- to build up your hours again after this leave. IF your job is over 49 employees (I think). If you get a job HERE, you also need to work a long time to build UP your FMLA if you work for a larger company or you won't even get THAT if it's a smaller company.

Once people are ON UNEMPLOYMENT they can still get it if they move to a new state but you're mixing apples and oranges. Unemployment is NOT medical disability. Medical disability is, however, the new scam that replaces Unemployment when the UE checks run out. The disability claims have skyrocketed along with the unemployment here and it's a well known fact that it's a problem in Social Welfare countries like Finland/Norway/Denmark.

"Retiring" after working all our lives is not a logical jump since statistically you are likely to live until you're 80. I'm older than you and sure..I'd LOVE to have saved enough to live out the next thirty years not working. Not gonna happen.

What were you planning on doing when the Unemployment runs out? WORK LOL.

I just think you'd be in a better position to make these decisions while you still HAVE a job, which may not be the case here AND your existing doctors.
