Any skincare expert will tell you that the "vampire facial" was made famous by none other than Kim Kardashian sometime in 2013.
But be careful when following this beauty "trend".
CDC says 3 women have been diagnosed with HIV after receiving this treatment.
Okay, so, the problem is "not using new needles for each patient," not the treatment itself. As my college-paper adviser once cried exasperatedly during a late-night putting-the-paper-to-bed session: "Haven't any of you ever taken a journalism class???"
I don't think anyone question the treatment here. It's about being infected with HIV, that is related to reusing needles.
Same could be said about tattoos.
It is possible to get HIV this way if the equipment or ink contains blood from someone with HIV.
From the link above:
"The spa closed in fall 2018 after the investigation was launched, and its owner was prosecuted for practicing medicine without a license."
This reminds me of a similar case, except that the clinic was run/owned by a Medical Doctor, and the procedure was performed by another Medical Doctor. The customer died in 2012. The clinic owner was jailed 12 years in 2017.

So, what's about the journalism, again?
Yes, I'm aware of that. But the tone of the article and even your post made it sound like it was the use of plasma in facials... when in reality that would be perfectly fine as long as the needles used were new. So no one needs to "be careful when following this beauty trend"-- they need to be careful about whom they allow to stick needles into their body, for any reason.
Yeah, maybe. Unintentionally, though. I meant to point on quality, qualifications, and standards of cleanliness in such places.
Nothing against use of plasma in facials.
Apparently PRPs are well worth the money.
But PRP facials are medical, rather than cosmetic procedures and should be performed by skilled professionals
I came across this news last night, and it is eerie that there are so many victims of beauty spas. No death, no health injury this time, but the crooks transferred US$30 million to foreign bank accounts, before absconded through the US to Canada.
