What does everyone use to wash their bathing suits in. Do you buy something special,or use regular clothes detergent. Anyone use Dawn? It seems Dawn is good for just about anything....even wild life. LOL

Dawn (or any "Ultra" dish soap) is bad for plants; it strips off the waxy coating on the leaves, causing them to dry out too fast. It's used in some "natural" weed killers. I don't know if it's bad for fabrics.

Best thing is to thoroughly rinse your suit in plain water after swimming in a chlorinated pool. Chlorine is really bad for the lycra or other "stretch" fibers.

After that, I usually wash the suit with the rest of my laundry. Woolite might keep it usable longer, but I get bored with the same old thing anyway.

Shouldn't need such a powerful detergent to get a bathing suit clean...unless you sat in something greasy-grody on the beach! Using Dawn for laundry (for general washing, not to remove a greasy oily stain) may not get fabrics as clean as you hope.

I handwash my swimsuits in luke warm water with just a tiny dab of my shampoo massaged in, just enough to work up a bit of a lather and then I rinse it thoroughly in the same temperature luke warm running water - squeeze it to get rinse water out, never wring it out - and then lay it patted out flat on a towel to dry.

.

I just wash them regularly and hang them to dry. I have never had any issues.

The most important thing to care for bathing suits I've found is rinsing (fresh water) after going in the pool. Aside from that, wash w/ normal laundry. I think my wife might air dry hers.

I put them in a big lingerie bag, throw them in with other lingerie & Tshirts, wash with Woolite, and hang to dry. No problems.

I agree. Most laundry detergents have the same ingredients, just a different smell, package and price.
Except some have bleach or softenings and some not.
