I need something old fashioned like Bonne Belle used to make. I tried a "toner" (apparently what they call astringent now) and it needs to be washed off. I want something that smells and feels cooling like alcohol and isn't sticky and doesn't need to be washed off. On hot days, when my face is oily and feeling bad, I want to cool and de-grease it without washing or rubbing it, which can just make things worse. I don't have sensitive skin or any skin issues other than feeling oily. Any recommendations?

Not as popular as it used to be but Sea Breeze is still around and reasonably priced.

Thanks, and both of these, you just swab them on and they evaporate off? No washing required?

No washing required, given your face is already makeup free. I use astringent with salalcylic acid on my face in the morning, before I put makeup on, and after I wash my face. For me, it helps get rid of the last traces of foundation, on my skin. Face cleanser never seems to get ALL the remnants of makeup off my face.

No washing after, maybe also helpful to note both of these are usually found in or near the acne care sections, rather than in 'skincare' where the lotions and make up removers are.
Many of the acne toners/cleansers contain salicylic acid, which some people can find drying or irritating. Sea Breeze is basically alcohol with various 'minty' type leaf oils added for a clean tingly feel. You can look at the ingredients here

Sea Breeze is way too harsh for my oily, sensitive skin. I'm a fan of Son & Park Beauty Water as a toner and Amie Clear and Calm for wipes.

Thanks, everyone. I don't wear face makeup, so that's no issue and between oily and sensitive, I'm oily. I got a micro scrub last year to wash my face a few times a week and was warned by everyone I know that it would dry my skin. Well, no luck, I'm still sweating and oily and I know too much washing just stimulates the oil glands, so I only wanted a swipe of something during the day to make me feel clean. I saw all the stuff in the acne section but wasn't sure it was what I wanted. Now I know.

Witch Hazel. Has a small amount of alcohol. Thayer’s makes a non-alcohol scented version that’s wonderful.

Dickinson’s has alcohol and is nice. The generic brands are strongly scented.

The thing about a very high alcohol content, it’s drying. And it seems like it works, but it makes your oil producing glands kick it up to overdrive. So you get oilier.
