I like mine on the most part: it motivates me to move around more, plus it tracks my sleeping pattern. Pretty genius.

I like mine a lot. I don't use the food journal as I like myfitnesspal for that Between the two of them I feel like I have things pretty well covered. I have inspired quite a few people to get their own fitbit.

I just got FitBit about a month ago. It has caused me to be more aware of my activity level and made me more accountable to the goals I have set.

The challenges are so fun! I really have to up my game if I'm doing a challenge to 17,000 or 18,000 steps a day (which is hard when you have a desk job) and there are two people that I still can't get even close to.

If you are competitive person - it's fun because you get updates all day long as to who is beating who.

I don't like to do it every week though because I do occasionally have to focus on things other than how many steps I'm taking. I find myself skipping things like weight training because I don't get enough steps in at that activity.

For those who have them, how do you deal with possible rash?

I always develop rash when wearing anything on my wrist for a while. Fitbit is one of those things you wear 24/7 right?

You can put it in your pocket when walking or spinning/biking and it will still count your steps. I don't wear mine every night because it does get annoying.

I love my fitbit. I started with the zip and now have the Surge. I'm not overly concerned with the accuracy, my goal is one more step than the day before. Love that I can sync with Myfitnesspal.

If I move my arm or jolt it, it will count it as a step... sometimes even if I'm walking and don't move my arms it won't even count as a step. Odd. Was going to return it but Best Buy and their 14 day return policy... anyways, love it for sleeping tracker.. but at this rate who knows if that's even reliable...
Exchange it, mine does not do that!

ok, so I have trouble keeping track of a necktie and a ballpoint pen. Last thing I need is another gadget.

I swim for fitness at the Y. Only takes a swimsuit. One of the other guys shows up with two kinds of flippers and sort of a flipper that goes on his hands and a foam block that he holds with his thighs while he swims using his arms only and a kickboard to swim with his feet only.

I can tell that I am getting a more intense workout without all the accoutrements. He drags all this junk to the pool, fusses over it, uses it all, but goes at a fairly relaxed pace all the time.

Barring some health problem that a smart gadget could monitor, they are not for me. Life is simpler without unnecessary stuff.
