The Nordic Countries are in this aspect much more close to Southern Europe than Germany and the UK. A lighter breakfast and a real hot meal at lunch.
Aside from portion size, and a few dishes such as cereal and oatmeal, it looks to contain more protein than the typical French breakfast. Closer to Germanic/Anglo than Latin countries.
Would it be fair to say that the breakfast culture in various European countries are more resistant to change than lunch or dinner culture? After all, foreign influence are easily found in the other two meals with the popularity of things like American fast food, sushi and kebabs. If that is indeed the case then why?

Don't thank me too quickly. I have never been to that restaurant in Flushing. But because of this interesting thread and all the contributors, I have been browsing the internet for pictures to satiate my hunger. I am on the mend and won't be cooking for a while.
