Facebook, for instance is a waste of time in my opinion as I found my self consumed in others peoples lives that don't matter to me at all. I found myself aimless looking at the crap people posted just as something to do. I was on facebook for about 10 years and finally deleted it, I feel like a weight has been lifted. I have never logged on to twitter, nor do I see the point of it. Taking time out of your day to post things for other people to comment on...I pretty much think social media is garbage.

Which is precisely what we're doing here on these forums.
The difference between this forum and facebook is that no one knows who we are. We can say something stupid and no one is going to care, the boss isn't going to see, mom isn't going to be embarrassed or hurt. If you say something stupid or offensive here if you are the outgoing type, you can lay low for awhile and folks move on to some other topic. If you do it on facebook, your friends and folks who know you will be in a huff and unfriend you and think you are a horrid individual. You can mess up that spotless reputation you have at work or that club you are in.
I hardly post of fb and never anything personal, but that is what I think the difference is.
It really is a good place for musicians to get noticed. It is so hard to break into the music industry, so having a facebook, twitter, etc. is an excellent place to showcase their talent.
Just as they get credit for every success, they need to be held accountable for failures. Recently, Facebook has done some things that are truly horrible, and I can no longer excuse its behavior.
