I believe that there are zero HEBs in El Paso. When I used to live there, I know I never saw any.

Does anyone know why there are no HEBs in El Paso? I believe they are found as far west as Midland. It's hard to believe that El Paso's location is the only reason. If the HEBs trucks can make runs to Midland, why not EP as well? Just curious if anyone knows anything more on this subject.

I just noticed two similar threads from 2013 and 2014. Sorry, I'm trying not to be redundant, but the only answer I could find is that EP is too far west. I think that issue could easily be solved with one or two regional warehouses.

They have 2 Central Market in Dallas, 1 in Fort Worth.

Maybe they open one day in Juarez, HEB in Mexico has had good growth and already reaches states like Guanajuato, Queretaro and Aguascalientes, maybe Chihuahua is the next.

I agree it's not the best. I preferred Big 8, Wal-Mart even Dollar General over Albertsons. Albertsons is overpriced and they don't have a large selection.

We're surrounded by 3 Walmarts and 2 Alberstons... so most of our food shopping is with them.
Albertsons has good prices when you shop from the weekly flyer - esp. on "Buy 1 Get 3 Free" steak weeks.
Sprouts has the best fresh fruit/veg prices.
Food King Cost Plus are twice as busy since they rebranded from Big 8.
We'll have to see how the more expensive Whole Foods does in the El Paso market.

Never saw the appeal in Whole Foods. Their produce prices are outrageous, and where I'm currently living there are at least four different local options (not including a few Trader Joe's around) with far better prices and better quality meat/produce.

But I do like that it'll increase competition in the food desert that is El Paso. It's seriously lacking in choice.

It's not called "whole paycheck" for nothing.
