Come join us whites on the west side. I heard rumors of whites being seen on the east side but I'm too scared to go look. I just hide on the west side and hope the scary Mexicans don't notice me. LOL

that's a pretty sarcastic comment. People and groups throughout the US and even other countries tend to stick to culture and people of their own and there's nothing wrong with that IMO. Moreover, that is not to say there is something wrong with the "other" people.

1984 was a popular year.

El Paso is probably three decades ahead of the rest of the country when it comes to races and cultures integrating. Not a ton of different races but we have been mixing far longer. Look around and hardly anybody has parents of the same race. It is not like El Paso is full of citizens of first-generation Americans with Mexican mothers and fathers. Maybe in 1984.

Speaking of dating in El Paso, kind of reminds me of a little 'ol anglo cowboy song from waaaaay back in the day, went something like this;

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso
I fell in love with a Mexican girl
Nighttime would find me in Rosa's cantina
Music would play and Felina would whirl

Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina
Wicked and evil while casting a spell
My love was deep for this Mexican maiden
I was in love, but in vain I could tell........
