I had looked into a day care for my dog back a few years ago, just in case I wasn't allowed to work from home anymore. My dog was young and would have been alone for 9+ hours five days a week.
I did find a local place in Metro Detroit that had excellent reviews and that charged about $25 a day, drop off around 7:00 AM, pick up around 6:00 PM.
But you wanted to know about overnight fees. From their current website, it's $33 to $38 per night for one dog, $55 to $65 for two dogs. The higher prices are for their busy season. I believe that you provide the food and any necessary medications, they provide the location and the pet care.
There are so many local variables such a comparison may not be very meaningful IMHO. Sorry this is a bit out of date, but as of about 3 years ago the local (Kenai Peninsula, AK) dog boarding rate hovered around $48 per night. My dog didn't require anything special, and I chose to provide the food.
I am in Santa Barbara CA which has a very high cost of living. There are very few places left that board dogs and the rates run about $85-$120 a night with about a $10 price break on a 2nd (or more) dogs. It has been cheaper for me to use a dog sitter that comes over twice a day.

That is the pricing here in Boston. I haven't needed anyone for a long time and am really suprised at the pricing these days! I have 2 dogs...it was $240 for 1 night. That would go to 170 (85/dog) if I were a regular. That is for a person who does care in their home, not in ours, the person is great though. But yikes! Guess my dogs will be staying with me wherever I go lol. Glad I am not alone.

Dang that is highway robbery. Thay's almost as much as it costs for a mid-range hotel room.
Here in NC, I generally pay about $40-$50 for overnight in a well run kennel. That includes feeding, one on one play time a couple times/day. There are others where the price is typically more expensive and a little fancier but I've been using the same kennel for 30 years without issue.
We have a large, fenced yard, 2 dog doors, an old Airedale and a young mini poodle. All the squirrels you want. I could offer free kenneling for 1-2 dogs, no charge, as long as they are under 50 lbs and peaceful. Up to 7-10 days . In exchange I might request that the other owner provide a few days for our dogs if needed, which is not likely in our age. I have 40 years of experience, mostly all terriers.
A volunteer group along these lines could be created anywhere; we live in a small town in the Sierra foothills, N. California. I don't understand why such a project doesn't exist. The dog boarding fees are out of control today, along with everything else. Keeping an eye on someone's pet is not brain surgery, and the socialization is good for all parties.
