Going back 30 years, we fed our Shelties Eukanuba. I remember seeing a special on 60 Minutes and Eukanuba was the only one who permitted the show into their faciility.

Then, we switched to Life's Abundance (produced locally) and used that until 2016 when there was a bad batch.

Willing to go back to either of the above - but

We've tried Science Diet, Iams and Fresh Pet. Fresh Pet seemed great until 3 days ago; our collie has had diarrhea for 3 days now.

We took him to the vet and he is still there being checked out. The vet thinks it could be the food.

Our collie's skin has improved since he has been eating the Fresh Pet so I hope it's not that.

We have our Collie (age 9) and a Sheltie (age 1). Our Sheltie eats the same Fresh Pet and she has had no issues.

Any ideas of what to try?

Default Update on the food

Vet put him on Royal Canin and our dog will not touch it.

He still has the runs but not as much.

Getting rid of the Fresh Pet. Our little dog loves it but too scary.

Any ideas on Ollie or Nom Nom?

If Fresh Pet seemed good until three days ago, chances are it's not the food. Dogs can get into any number of things. Did the vet suggest a bland chicken/rice diet for a few days to help clear Collie up?

This is how we learned our dog was allergic to chicken. It probably saved us months of trying to figure out what the problem was, but that was a rough couple of days.

Try mixing a little (very little) cooked ground beef in the Royal Canin product. See if the collie goes after it.

Smile Royal Canin

Royal Canin was prescribed by our vet and both dogs are eating it now.

Our little Sheltie started getting sick the day after our Collie.

She is gobbling up the Royal Canin and seems to love it. Our collie is now eating it but isn't in love with it.
Good idea about the ground beef; will try that.

We'll try this for a couple of months and see how they do. Our Sheltie has put on some weight so maybe it's time for the Royal Canin anyway.

As of Friday, they are both back to normal. The Sheltie had about 1 1/2 days of diarrhea and our Collie had about 2 days.

I've always heard a bit of pumpkin is a miracle for dog tummies. Works for constipation or diarrhea.

You can also try adding a bit of broth to the food (if the ground beef gets too pricey for long term).
