incredible. i would find even 20 years pretty remarkable.

At 30 years and 266 days old, a Portuguese dog named Bobi was crowned the world’s oldest dog ever on February 1, breaking an almost century-old record, per Guinness World Records (GWR). The previous titleholder, an Australian cattle dog named Bluey, was born in 1910 and lived for 29 years and 5 months.
Bobi has lived in Conqueiros, a small Portuguese village, for more than three decades. But he almost didn’t survive past infancy, Leonel Costa, his owner, tells GWR.
When Bobi, the world’s oldest dog, died in October 2023, the outpouring of grief online was immediate. But it wasn’t long before that sadness turned to suspicion, as experts raised doubts about whether the Portuguese dog really did make it to 31 years and 163 days. In December, a (totally serious) WIRED investigation revealed that a government agency that was supposed to have verified Bobi’s age didn’t actually have evidence he was born in 1992.
Now the doubts surrounding Bobi’s longevity are spiraling into an even bigger scandal that is rocking the world of record-breaking dogs. Guinness World Records, which verifies the longest-lived dogs in the world, says that it has temporarily paused the records for the oldest living dog and oldest dog ever while it reviews the evidence behind Bobi’s record. For now, the throne of the world’s oldest dog remains empty.
Well dogs age’s aren’t really verifiable.
Dogs might be microchipped or registered, but even that’s not irrefutable proof.
I’ve seen them live close to 20, but much beyond that seems hard to believe.
A dog living to 30 is like a human living to 150 imo.
That’s a stretch of biblical proportions.

If the dog is microchipped someone would have really had to go out of their way to fake it over a reasonably long period of time for no monetary gain just to get an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. I agree with you though that thirty seems unbelievable.
I remember as a kid in the 90s and dogs that got to 15 where considered amazing, these days it's pretty common. I guess because dog health and diet is far superior than it was back then. At least I hope it is considering what a trip to the vet costs. I just got the two dogs their annual vaccines and walked out $700 lighter.
