In the past I've stayed away from formulas with a high corn content, or corn as the first ingredient. In the distant past I was a raw feeder for years. I wish it were still possible. The only butcher/meat market I've had that is reasonably priced is in Phoenix, Arizona.

Yeah, I've always avoided corn. Out of all the grains, for dogs, I think corn is most problematic. WAY back, when I was a kid, corn was the first thing I was taught to look for AND AVOID in dog food. It was the first mark of a cheap, low quality, dog food. Nutrition knowledge has grown a lot since then, but I don't think this has changed that much.

Threerun brings up a good point - it can take time for a dog to get accustomed to new food.

Thanks, but we mixed half and half for about a month.

How's it going, gentlearts? Any improvement yet? I think you're on to something that will eventually work out.

I think I would find another food. I'm not fond of 90lb male dog farts, frankly.

Fortunately they’re only 20# dog farts. He’s still at it. Maybe we’ll give it a bit more time.

My vet recommends against grain free ... but I'll mix some in with the regular kibble.

(scroll halfway down)

I don't understand why Sunshine Mills (manufacturer for Aldi and others) doesn't list the carbohydrate content. I would be interested in it if I could find out. It does have a lower protein content than what I currently feed, but only 6% lower. If the carb percentage is acceptable, it's a very decent choice. 4 out of 5 stars.
