Leo was indeed a beautiful dog. I'm so sorry for your loss. Having recently lost my own sweet dog I know too well the emptiness and pain after losing a cherished friend. Whether they are with us one year or 13 years, it is never long enough. What a lucky pup Leo was to have been so loved.

There is a wonderful site that helps with pet loss, Rainbow Bridge, Pet Loss Grief Support, Monday Candle Ceremony

I recently lost my 17-year old cat. Like your relationship to your dog, he was my best friend, sometimes only companion. To lose a pet after such a long, close bond, it is like losing your other half. If you feel lost without him, yearn for the touch of his fur, waiting for his return as if it was all a bad dream... please know that you are not alone. No pet is replaceable. Not ever. You will forever miss him while your grief will slowly wane. You will start to sleep well again as time goes on.

There is a chatroom you can join for free. It is for pet loss and pre-loss. It's sponsored by the only national pet loss non-profit organization out there. It's easy to register and the volunteer counselors were very nice. It helped me a lot as you get to meet others who went through their loss.

All of us who have been where you are know your pain. I hope you take some comfort in remembering your beautiful companion was a member of a caring family for 13 years and in your loving arms as he left this world.

We knew Leo would be going for about a month, just not the exact time. Yesterday he took a turn for the worse, and we had to finally let him go.

My heart is breaking.

My only solice is thinking he is now free to run through fields of ferns, rolling over and
laughing like crazy as he lays them flat. That was one of his favorite past times while he was here with me.
So sorry to hear your companion has passed. I believe that we will be reunited with our beloved animals when it is our turn to go. I hope you find some peace and comfort in remembering that your dog knew he loved and lived the best life you could have provided.

Adding my sympathy as well. I'm sure you have so many good memories, and that will help ease the pain over time. I comfort my grieving for my little buddy by knowing he is now with his creator who loves him just as much as I did.

I am so sorry. He is a beautiful dog and always will be. I'm sure brought as much joy and happiness to your life as you did to his. My condolences.

What a beautiful boy, he looks well loved and very loving. Dogs are such wonderful souls, their only fault is they leave us too soon.
