Hes insisting that he doesn’t have a deal in place to buy the Tigers, but there’s a lot of noise about it.

There is certainly a lot of noise on the Tiger thing and maybe "where there's smoke there's fire" but until the Ilitch family says something otherwise they are the owners and that's that.

Agree, but there was definitely fire around the Greektown sale. I’ve been hearing rumors of it for the past 6+ months. It just took a while to get the details hammered out. I’m pretty sure that the sale of his Ohio casinos will be announced shortly.

If it turns out to be true I'd be fine with Gilbert taking over. Those of us listening to those rumors have heard the part where baseball was the old man's thing and now that he has passed away the family isn't as enamored with baseball as pops was. Who knows if there is real truth to that or if sports talk radio, local TV and print media just make stuff like that up to see what attracts attention. When you preface things with words like "rumors" you can sort of say whatever you want.

I believe that the NBA doesn't allow its owners to own a major sports franchise in market other than its own. Not 100% sure of this.

Stan Kroenke owns the English Premier League football club Arsenal, the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL, Denver Nuggets of the NBA, Colorado Avalanche of the NHL, Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League and the newly formed Los Angeles Gladiators of the Overwatch League.
