Where are some of the worst roads in Metro Detroit? I know that I have encountered my share of them.
-Orchard Lake Rd (one of the worst)
-8 Mile (at the intersection of beck is really bad!!
When are the county road commissions going to get out there and fill in those holes!! Many of the roads need to be totally redone, and be re-surfaced.

The stretch of Van Dyke between Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd) and 18 1/2 Mile Rd.

A truck carrying ladders bounced around so much in all those potholes that it shot the ladder from the rack and nearly hit my car today.

They should put an extra one-time purchase tax on large trucks owned by both companies and individuals. Not only would this cut down on housewives and teenagers needlessly tooling around in a full-size pickup, it would pay for consistent road improvements. You break it, you pay for it...why the heck are those of us who own modest cars paying the bulk of it?

I totally agree, I just laugh when I take a trip out of Michigan into any state, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, they all have winter wheather but their roads are smooth and perfect, so really Michigan has no excuse at all to have such horrid roads. They just need to stop the semi's and other trucks from carrying so much!

I think they may be doing work on it now so maybe I shouldn't complain, but I used the on ramp near Warren over the weekend and that short little piece of pavement has to set some kind of record for debilitating potholes per square foot. The worst one was a giant 4 foot X 4 foot square gouge on the left near the entrance that probably would have immobilized my car if I didn't notice it on time. It looked like some kind of strip mine!

Woops, noticed I left out an important detail. I was referring to the Chrysler fwy northbound on ramp from Warren.

It's also quite bad before that onramp. The entire eastbound Warren overpass over I-75 in the left turn lane to the northbound highway onramp you mention is pretty bad.

I agree. That whole section is pretty treacherous, but I think the on ramp really made an impression because that is where one expects to accelerate to merge onto the freeway.

Ah, I remember another bad stretch - the ramp from I-94 eastbound to I-75. Not only do you have to dodge craters and mounds from poor attempts to fill them, but you're turning on an enbankment while your rear end is bouncing all over the place.
