I am looking for Adventurland Park's past ride roster.
Old rides that are not there anymore.
Old maps of the park.
Does anyone have this information?
Thanks,
Brad

I remember the Super Screamer (small roller coaster...individual cars) and the Tornado (larger roller coaster). I don't think either is there anymore. There was also a ride where you drove cars (i.e...model T types) around in a circle. That is no longer there either.

From my understanding, Adventureland is privately owned by a family. Depending on what you need the info for, I would assume that would be your best bet for getting the information you need.

Have you checked out Wikipedia? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventureland_(Iowa)

^Tornado is still there, along with Dragon, Outlaw, and Underground.

First move is going to be Adventureland for info about and photos of roller coasters.
It never hurts to contact the park.
Also definitely contact the Altoona Historical Society: Welcome to the Altoona Historical Society Web Site!
I would also recommend checking out http://www.riverviewparkdsm.com/, since that was another big part of Des Moines's and Adventureland's history. Adventureland got a few rides from Riverview after they bought and closed it and you can still go to the island on the river where Riverview used to be and see some footers and old ride plots. It's really interesting and quite sad.

You used to be able to still see reminants of Riverview Park, but with the new levee's they are now building, that is all gone now.

Yep...in fact I walk around there last summer as I wanted to check that out too. But this spring is when they started the new levee.

That's too bad. That was a big part of DSM's history.

The one I remember as a kid that is not there anymore is the Alpine. It was similar to a roller coaster but not too many dips. I think it seated four people. This isn't a ride, but I do remember the mechanical animals (I think they were bears) at the entrance that sang. Is the train still there?

I'm actually going to be in Adventureland in two weeks.

Capitalcityguy, I remember that ride with the Model Ts. That was one of the few rides my grandparents would go on with us. The Tornado is still a good roller coaster but it has seen better days. I think part of the fun of riding it is that it sounds so rickety now.

This is making me look forward to my visit! I also like the section in Riverview Park. I had never heard of that.
