Default Denver

It has a gang problem and personally I wouldn't live there. There are outlying areas that are nice, but expensive.

Depends on where you live. Denver's crime is really bad. Loveland has really low crime.

So yeah, it depends very much on the town.

ehh, not as bad as Oakland or Philly were I've lived as well. really depends on the neighborhood. However I'm confident if you utilize google you should be able to find some more concrete numbers.

G'luck!

You live in Denver? You need to compare Denver to LA, Atlanta, Chicago, Miami and about any other city. Go to NAR's web page and compare cities for crime. I am downtown a lot at night, Cherry Creek Mall, Mile High Stadium, Coor's Field, Pepsi Center, 16th Street Mall - where are you going? I would stay away from Colfax, Federal, Commerce City, and Montbello...but otherwise I don't understand your comment. Virtually no crime in the suburbs. Almost every Sunday, I ride my bike for 4 -6 hours through Denver - had a homeless person ask me to set his digital wrist watch once!

We agree with SouthDenverGuy, stay away from the areas he mentioned.
We have lived in the south end of Parker for the last 3 years and the crime is extremely low. But, with a lot of people moving into Parker now, don't know how long that will stay that way. There is a lot of houses being built here also. The "small town" atmosphere Parker use to have is gradually going.
But, I will tell you this: accidentally we left the front door to our house unlocked for an entire week and had no problems happen. Have left our garage door open twice (by mistake again) and nothing happened. Parker housing can be a little costly, but if you can afford the area....
DO MOVE THERE.....no question about it!!!!

I"ve lived in Central Denver (Washington Park, Golden Triangle and Cherry Creek area) and never felt unsafe. Not sure what you are talking about with crime. I use common sense in the city... i.e. close garage doors, lock cars, house etc but aside from annoying solicitors which seem to gravitate to city neighborhoods, i've had no issues.

I am from Southern California and can tell you I feel much safer in Denver than nearly any big CA city. I unfortunately had an unpleasant experience though on Colfax Ave. I had to stop there for something, and felt very unsafe. Large hispanic and illegal immigrant population there. You will see a lot of signs in Spanish. There's also a graffitti problem. Just use common sense like in any city. However Denver is better than most big cities.

Default Classic!

I realize this is an old thread, but the original poster asked about crime, and newportbeach tells us about signs in Spanish. (!)

Racial and ethnic stereotyping, anyone?
