I think it really depends on your socioeconomic status and what kind of food you like. Affluent people who love seafood would probably go to Jay's. Others would want other things. It really depends on the person.

I usually just try to feel out what my date's in the mood for. I find Lucky's can be a good spot for a first date, or splitting a pizza somewhere. For something a little fancier, Corner Kitchen or Basil's are good options (Mudlick and Lock 27 would probably be good options too but I haven't tried the food at either yet). Then finish the night off at Century or Barrel House.

My wife and I went to the Marion’s by the Dayton mall on our first date, there was not as much stuff in the area back in 1984.

Good point! I should have been more specific - whatever you'd consider to be a great date restaurant is what I'm interested in hearing.

To be honest, I think Coldwater Café in Tipp, Fifth Street Brewpub in St. Anne's Hill, and any local Steak N' Shake are all great restaurants, depending on the type of date you're looking to have. So whatever you consider good and why is what I'm wondering.

Other posters - thanks for the ideas!

Go to the Pine Club or Oakwood Club for a steak and nice wine.

Can confirm: Lock27 has great food and a good beer selection. Wish they’d have put their new location closer to Bellbrook.

Agreed, I've had their beer but never had their food and it looks excellent. Thanks for the idea! I might be taking her there Saturday, we will see.

Hadn't heard of that place in years. My dad took my mom there a time or two for special occasions.

This may classify me as a peasant, but I like Brio's.
