I don't think it was a terrorist attack. I'm going to guess pilot error a la AF447 (takes a minor incident and responds inappropriately and ends up crashing) or pilot suicide like Silk Air 185 or TAM 470.
Also realize they almost lost a a 777 back in 2005 due to a software problem that confused the pilots. They oversped then they stalled this latest incident smells of something just like what happened in 2005 only this time they couldn't get it back.
This is awful. I read 4 from the U.S. Then I read in this thread one of those is an infant. How terribly sad for all that had a loved one on board. I'll be saying a prayer for those who will be recovering bodies. One never gets use to that.
Breaking News on the CNN website: Vietnamese aircraft spots liquid and "rubbish" on surface of water in overlapping waters of Malaysia and Vietnam, official tells CNN.
According to the CCTV English news channel (which can be gotten over the air in the NYC area - Channel 32), 2 oil slicks have been spotted off the coast of Vietnam. Also there is a report of a passenger who used a stolen Italian passenger (that was taken 2 months ago in Thailand). The owner of the passport called his relatives to confirm he wasn't on board the plane and the Italian Government has issued a statement that there were no Italian citizens on this flight.
What a tragedy..I am praying for the souls on that flight. May the Lord be with then.
The angst and heartache seen on the faces of the family members, that have been captured by the media, really saddens me so much. I truly am praying for them all...
A second passenger was also using a stolen Austrian passport (besides the passenger using a stolen Italian passport).
