There are complaints that the Vizio M series remotes are unresponsive. This is a simple fix. The problem is that the IR receiver is at the bottom of the frame because of the thin bezel. I simply added a small piece of shiny metal to reflect the IR beam into the receiver. A piece of aluminum foil works just as well.

Had exact same issue - would not respond to buttons on TV or on Remote or to Netflix Visio support had me do the following and it worked perfectly. I have a Model E320i-A2
Can you please do a powercycle for me?

1- Power off TV (Skip if needed)
2- Unplug TV from outlet
3- Press and hold in the power button on the side of the TV for 30 seconds (while it is unplugged from the wall)
4- Release the power button
5- Plug in the TV
6- Power the TV back on
7- Remove the batteries from the remote. With the batteries removed, press every button once. When that has been done, put the batteries back in and try the remote.

I'm going to print those instructions for the next time mine start acting up. It sure seems like a pia to do this, though. I hope Vizio has fixed this problem with their televisions because, aside from this problem, they aren't a bad tv. The picture quality on mine is great. Just that annoying remote problem every so often.

Having same problem with my Vizio M420SV bought in 2011. Tried Vizio's troubleshooting, powering off TV, powercycling the remote control, also replaced remote with no effects. Must be the IR sensor problem everyone is talking about. Too bad, this is my 4th Vizio, never had problems with any of the others. This one is the largest and the newest of the 4. Won't be buying a Vizio again, it really should last longer than 2 years. Is there anything else to try before having somebody replace the IR sensor?

You could try the suggestion posted by viziotvuser.

If you have multiple components to your home theater, get a Logitech Harmony remote.

You can program it so one button will turn only the needed devices (cab/sat box, amp, TV) and set everything to the correct input. Plus it now controls all the devices, volume, channel, etc.

Want to watch a BD/DVD, hit one button, and it turn on the player, cab/sat box off, and changes inputs needed for the amp, TV.
