Are there areas in or around Columbus where more of the artists (young and older artists) community lives? As an artist, where would one feel like they fit in? I am aware of the gallery district in the Short North, but do artists actually live around there? Once I move there, I would be interested in joining some artists guilds or associations and would like to be handy and near others of "a like kind." Thanks for any help.

I am going to have to assume that there are quite a few people that do live in the area of Short North. The "artists" that I know personally live in Harrison West, Clintonville, and Old Town East. Not really related to housing, but you might want to keep your eye on this if you aren't already aware.... Wonderland Columbus (http://www.wonderlandcolumbus.com/index.html - broken link)

Thanks for your input and the link on Wonderland. Looks like a very promising venture.

Are there any artists out there that could put in their 2 cents?

Short North is the only claim of an artistic area in Columbus. If you want to go someplace in the Midwest that actually has artists, go to Chicago or Indy. Logan Square in Chicago is just one center where many artists live and work. Indy has Mass. Ave.

Well, Columbus was rated as the 9th largest art market in the U.S. It appears to have a vibrant art community, from what I have gathered. (Although behind Chicago.) Is this not the case?
