Obviously, this is terrible. It's just sprawling nonsense. This is not a city area, it's basically almost rural. There is nothing wrong with that. What makes it terrible is that we are destroying what could be a funcitoning rural community and making it into massive, isolating, tech ugliness and then probably more McMansions. It's just hard to stomach when the city of Columbus itself is so diluted as is. Would be much better to throw these types of things in the city itself (if you really want such companies anyway, which I personally do not).
So a big data company, microshaft, wants to set up a server farm in a cornfield outside of columbus. Nothing screams urbanity any louder....at least there will soon be strip malls and mcmansions surrounding the server farms...quite appropriate...server farm in a cornfield...I mean agriculture is agriculture...

First of all, who cares about urbanity? Urbanity is grime and filth and decay.

The point of all this is where they chose to park several hundred six-figure jobs and who got those jobs and who didn't.

Ya....everywhere in Cincinnati.....western hills isnt even a neighborhood but the name of a highschool and shopping center located in West Price Hill bordering into Westwood. You only mentioned one actual neighborhood, Price Hill: which is really Lower, East, and West Pricehill....and youve been to a cemetary in Cincinnati. The rest of these areas are in the Cincinnati MSA and not part of Cincinnati proper. Theres actually 52 neighborhoods in Cincinnati...

It makes sense now. This user hates cities, which is why he loves Central Ohio. We actually all totally agree on the facts at hand.

Im still trying to figure out why I would want google, microsoft, and facebook in my backyard. Do they actually produce anything of value? My Lord microsoft's software is garbage and has been since their beginnings through theft and deceit. Google and facebook are nothing more than big data collection centers...not exactly our friends.

The other take away for me is life in big cities most always involves companies moving to said location and companies depart said location. Its a cycle Ive seen played out for years now. But columbus boosters are so country that they think because some of these worthless corporations choose their areas its because theres something special about columbus...and there is...special in big business favor...low operating costs, low real estate costs because they are using farmland, low taxes because in Ohio just move out in the country and bam: low taxes, labor force that will accept cheaper pay: because this is columbus and not San Francisco, and proximity to The OSU: where they will undoubtedly hire young intelligent people willing to work for cheap labor...because central ohio isnt silicone valley....and you guys think this is a win? That these companies selected your area because central Ohio is such a bustling, growing, metropolis? Nah....central ohio is cheap baby because most all of it is suburban or rural and underdeveloped.

Personally, suburban living offers a lot that a lot of people love...low cost of living is a beautiful thing as well as is the jobs produced by these companies setting up shop. All great to hear and a definate plus. But why in the world do you guys take up development of this sort and thumb your noses at other areas of the state? as if these developments cement your elite status or something? Sad day really. But, hey, its all in fun so lets enjoy!

They pay six figure incomes. That's good enough for me. Yes, they are desirable employers to have in your city.

Respectfully, there are more important things in life than money.
