Is it difficult to find a job in Columbia?

Have been told it's the "Good Ole Boy" thing there - 2 young men can't find jobs - has been 8 months. I know unemployment is high everywhere, but is it that bad in Columbia?

Thanks!

P.S. I'm talking ANY kind of job - anything that would pay the bills

The "good ol boy" thing has little to do with finding a job if you're qualified. What kinds of jobs are they looking for and what kind of experience do they have? Do they have degrees? If not, Columbia is an overwhelmingly white collar city.

Maybe Columbia's job market and income level will be boosted if Congress follows through with a tax incentive for the purchase of equipment that runs on fuel cells and we get some manufacturing activity centered around USC. After all, SC was just named a top-5 fuel cell state.
