Hello everyone, We are moving to Columbia soon. We are trying to find an extended stay hotel in the area so I can work for a couple of weeks and allow us to figure out where we want to live. I reserved a room at the INtown Suites on Broad River Road. It is affordable but now I wonder about the area and the hotel. Please advise.
God Bless

It is not a dangerous area. Nothing special about the area. Few pedestrians. Close to many restaurants.

Thank you! We will be looking for a house to rent as well. Any areas to avoid? As far as crime and drugs?

I guess the big question is.. where will you be working? Do you want to be close to work or does it matter? Intown on Broad River is likely fine and has your basis amenities around it. There is also one up in Harbison which likely has better proximity to more amenities if you need to be out that way. I know of an extended stay on Forest Drive near Ft Jackson that is similar to shopping and amenities as well... Same could be said for the NE Richland County. All seem relatively safe but just depends on where you work and what types of amenities you are looking for nearby. I assume you have a car so public transit may not be a factor? Its likely easier to post the areas of town you are interested in and I am sure folks will comment. Most of the " NO GO" areas likely wont have short term housing and if they do it wont be on par with any of the extended stays.
