This may seem silly but I was wondering if DHEC does a pre-employment drug screen? I recently accepted a job here and should be starting soon. For the past 2 months I’ve been taking Full Spectrum CBD tincture drops for back pain due to a previous car accident. CBD and Hemp are state legal but I’m aware full spectrum cbd contains minuscule amounts of thc that are under the legal limit. But I have been somewhat nervous about it possibly appearing on a drug screen and hindering me from employment.

Just be upfront about it and you should be okay.

Worked there for 3.5 years. No pre employment drug tests. Still have friends that work there and to my knowledge, no change.

Thank you.. any review of the water quality section or dhec in general. I hear it’s the best state agency to work for

I worked in Air Quality and we were mostly separate of the Bureau of Water and the Bureau of Land and Waste Management. The people I know in water really enjoy working over there, but that’s the extent of my knowledge.

I loved working there and the people who work there. I started there early on in my career and felt like things moved a little too slowly for my my taste, which is why I moved to the health care world.

I’m fairly certain that if the job description includes operation of any state owned vehicles you’ll need to submit to a drug screen. I’m in the insurance business and at least in private sector (I’m not a government insurer) that’s the requirement.

@woffgrad13 hey man just wondering were there ever days where you just sat around at your desk with literally nothing to do? Haha. Fairly challenging work with a lot of concepts I still have to learn, but I’ve noticed there are some days where I have nothing to do and am just sitting there.. just trying to make sure this is somewhat normal lol

A family member works for DHEC and say, other than the low pay, it is good place to work but like any job can depend on your supervisor/manager but if a bad one, easy enough to transfer.

I have been with the BAQ for about 3 years. I started in early December of 2016 and was VERY bored over the holidays. My boss has been there for 30+ years and he has a lot of AL banked-up, so he took off quite a few days. And at that point I didn't know enough to handle any projects, so I spent a lot of time reading over manuals and white papers and wondering just how big of a mistake I'd made. At any rate, once the new year got underway, I had plenty to do.

I'm a middle-aged liberal who doesn't watch sports or go to church, so I can't say that I'm knocking it out of the park when it comes to socializing. While that's disappointing, for the most part it's a good job. Minus the pay issue, of course. While it doesn't really come up in day to day interactions, I feel good at least about upholding state and federal environmental regulations.

Things have definitely picked up and definitely enjoyed my first on site project. Luckily the weather has still been fairly warm. I’m dreading being out in the water elements when it’s extremely cold. Hopefully the coastal areas aren’t as cold as the upstate in February
