Interesting theory there and it sounds totally plausible. But as a life-long artist myself, I'll say that acquiring even one true fan (outside of immediately family) who is willing to PAY for your work is much easier said than done. Most people think of art, music, poetry, etc. as something enjoyable and not an expense.

TO The OP: You should live in Denver but be willing to travel to COS, Ft Collins, Boulder and any resort towns in the high country for gigs.

I would add Pueblo to that list the OP should travel too as we have a few large events that draw thousands of people including but not limited to the state fair, Wild Wild West Fest, Chili festival, "B" street bash, and Festival Friday's at the art center. Plus we have a great outdoor amphitheater in downtown and a indoor events center for concerts at the state fair.

It tends to be easier to make money on the music side of things than the fine art side.
