My cousin is looking @ getting a LVN at her community college. What are the odds of getting a job as a LVN?

* I think her goal was to get her LVN, work in a hospital environment then if all works well, she wants to go for her RN.

I am enrolled in an "Accelerated BSN" program at CSU-Pueblo and I definitely recommend the same for you. Since you already have a degree, you can get your BSN in 14 months!! It might take a little longer if you have to do a bunch of pre-requisites, but it's still faster than at a community college and you end up with a BS. I think there are 6 programs in CO offering this option. Check each one out and see what could work for you.

CSU-Pueblo (called "Degree Plus" track)
UCCS- Colorado Springs
CU- Denver
Metro State- Denver
Regis- Denver (expensive and longer though!)
UNC- Greeley

Good luck and let me know what you decide!
Katie

That is a long road to an RN. She needs to talk to someone, say a hospital recruiter, about job possiblilities as an LVN. They don't seem to be as popular today as when I was a young nurse.

LVNs often work in nursing home environments, the V.A., and prison systems. Very unusual to find them elsewhere.
I think the fastest, cheapest RN is the way to go. Two years in a hospital school (if any are left) or an A.D. at a community college. Make RN money while you figure out if and when you need a BSN. (I went to a hospital school, got an RN, have never gotten more degrees).

Last time I checked, there were no hospital schools left in Colorado. You can google this information. This is also an old thread. I'm not quite sure who we are talking to. Mike78618, maybe?
