Yes, but I can't remember in which thread that info was posted. I'll search for it and if I find it I'll post it.

What I found was info that Castle Rock and Douglas County get their water from wells drilled into the Denver Acquifer which is being rapidly depleted. Other areas in the region get water from other sources, like the Arkansas River or water piped over from the Western Slope, etc. The gist of the old comments is that Castle Rock and Douglas County are reliant on a single source, a source that is dwindling.

I used to live in Douglas County and yes the water is from an aquifer. You pay dearly for it. I remember 3 figure monthly water bills.
We now live in Grand Junction, a high desert town and I pay less than $50 a month for water. The source for GJ water are reservoirs high up on the Grand Mesa with its 250-300 inches of snow a year. Neighboring towns pull water from the Colorado River.

Risks ease for Colorado River reservoirs after wet winter, but long-term challenges loom

https://www.latimes.com/environment/...ter-wet-winter

"The water level in Lake Mead, the country’s largest reservoir , has risen nearly 29 feet over the past year, and the lake near Las Vegas is now at 37% of capacity."

"Upstream on the Utah-Arizona border, Lake Powell, the nation’s second-largest reservoir, stands at 34% full."

Sometimes, collaboration works. Let's hope we can all keep it up.
