Early Spring in Palisade wine country. The Bookcliffs are to the left, DeBeque Canyon in the middle and the Grand Mesa with tons of snow on top. Grape vineyards in the foreground.

One of the benefits of GJ is relatively easy access to areas front rangers have a hard time getting to and thus, uncrowded beauty.

A bucket list hike in the Grand Valley is Mt Garfield. Rated extreme, it mimics climbing a 14’er, only with less altitude. Did it on Sunday.

Great hike! I tend to get over to the GJ area every April when prolonged winter in the SLV starts getting on my nerves and this is one of my go-to hikes for those trips.

It’s a good one. Lower Monument trail to Independence Rock is another.
