Happy Monday:

Question about skiing season, we want to go to Aspen for the opening day skiing season for the parties and skiing of course. We have been checking online the exact date of opening for Aspen but couldnt find out the exact day some sites say November 25th and some others 26th, then just checked three other sites and i got december 10th....... Its so frustrating because we want book hotels and flights.

Cheers

Until the resort knows what the snow level is like, they can't be 100% exact.

The skiing sucks on opening day. If you want great skiing, wait until later in the season when there is a base. As mentioned above, Mother Nature has some input in to opening day date.

Opening day is determined by snow fall, which is not known ahead of time.

This.

The resorts have to throw a party because the skiing is most likely not so great. btw, the end of season parties tend to be a lot more fun.

Aspen Mountain & Snowmass usually open for Thanksgiving weekend, Highlands & Buttermilk in early December.
We rarely ski opening day (or week) unless there's been a ton of early snow. Too many noobs and gapers!

Cool. Thanks. Also how does the skiing pass work? Can I get two skiing passes or they only sell 1 pass per person? I have checked online and its confusing. I got the feeling that each pass its for an specific mountain or mountains and prices change based on that? Thanks a lot

Specific to Aspen? The Aspen lift ticket works at all 4 Aspen Mountains Aspen Mountain, Highlands, Snowmass, and Buttermilk. I'm not sure what you mean by "can I get two skiing passes". You only need one per person, per day. You can buy multi day passes.

If you intend to ski other non-Aspen mountains, you will need different tickets.

If you're not booked yet, go in April; there's no traffic on I-70, there's still snow cover everywhere, and warmer, longer days.

As stated by others, opening day sucks (skiing-wise) ... Very limited terrain open.

There's no big party ... it's not like opening day at Yankee Stadium for the baseball season.

You can buy as many season passes as your credit card can handle ... the earlier you buy them the cheaper they are. As stated, a season pass for Aspen Ski Company is good at all four mountains.

The best skiing is generally late February / early March.
