I'm interested in going to see the Cave of the Winds and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, but both were absurdly expensive for experiences which do not create an additional cost to the provider.

It seemed like they might have promotions at some point when visitors are low to try to get people in. That would be ideal, since we don't have kids or want to be surrounded by them. I think the zoo was about 18 bucks per person. I'm looking for something under 10 dollars per person.

Buy a zoo membership and go regularly - it is well worth the price! Yes, an individual ticket is a lot but a membership is a good deal. I've not heard of sales/discounts at the zoo but I did hear they recently added a military discount of $3 off with ID. Don't know about Cave of the Winds

Cave of the winds is expensive, but worth it. Their insurance premiums have to be ridiculous.

And FYI, if you don't want to be around kids, then the zoo isn't for you. It's pretty much catered towards them.

For someone who hasn't been to those places, how do you know the prices aren't worth it? I love the Cave of the Winds. They have different price points for those who want different experiences, and I love the zoo... I want to go back to the zoo to see the newest exhibit! I adore Rocky Mountain Wild- it's awesome. My daughter loves the grizzlies. But it is very geared towards kids. I can't really think of a time that wouldn't have a ton of kids there, as it's a popular destination for families who have non-school age children.

Agreed with others as there aren't really promotions for either of the places.

Agreed, Ryanek!! Cave of the Winds likely has insurance also for those who (did) hike Williams Canyon as in order to do that you needed to get a waiver from the main office... apparently for years people would go explore/party in the caves and get lost in them.

I would suggest getting an Entertainment book. There are a lot of deals/coupons in the book, but I really don't think/know if the entertainment book gives a discount as steep as you desire. That book is $30 and is sold by almost every elementary school in the area (it seems). I would know, my daughter at one school is selling it and my son at another is selling it too :P

If you are looking for a free attraction, next time you are in the downtown area, go to the Pioneer Museum. Its kind of interesting to poke around there, especially if you are into local history.
