You don't "make" someone do those things. We've programmed people for decades now. "go to college or you will be a failure".
There is a stigma today amongst many young people that getting your hands dirty is beneath them. They have all been told their whole life that they are beautiful little snow flake. They are too good for that. They are special.
We need to do a better job of identifying kids that need to go into those vo-techs. Stop telling them that they have to go to 4 year college. It's not for everyone.
We are starting to see this a bit. The vo-tech seems to be making a surge. Yes, the mfg jobs have gone away but in the midwest, where I live, and I think you do too, I've seen a resurgence. I'm not seeing tool and die shops and mold makers spring up again. It's improving some but they can't find employees skilled enough to do the job.
